How do I test for PFAS at home?

It's not possible to run actual tests for PFAS at home. You need specialized equipment found in certified labs. With our mail-to-lab kits all you need to do is collect the sample and we handle the rest. Every kit include everything you need for the sampling process, even prepaid shipping.

What's the turnaround time?

You will typically receive your results 10-15 business days after the lab receives their sample. This depends on your chosen test. However, some tests may require additional analytical time so be sure to check each kit’s product page for the most accurate estimate.

Are PFAS regulated in tap water?

The EPA has announced enforceable Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) for 6 PFAS.

  • 4 PPT for PFOS and PFOA
  • 10 PPT for PFNA, PFHxS, and HFPO-DA.
  • PFNA, PFHxS, PFBS, HFPO-DA will also be regulated as a group using a hazard index.

Are PFAS more common in well water?

PFAS in private well water is relatively common, depending on where in the US you live. A USGS study from 2022 found PFAS in 60% of its 254 samples from across 16 states.[15] The regions with the most exposure to the chemicals were the Eastern
Seaboard, Great Lakes, Great Plains, and Central and Southern
California.
