Hexavalent Chromium Water Test
The Hexavalent Chromium Water Test analyzes your drinking water for the presence of hexavalent chromium (CrVI) using ion chromatography and Method EPA 218.6 or equivalent.
The test can detect hexavalent chrome down to a 0.5 ppb (or 0.5 micrograms per liter) MDL.
Hexavalent chromium is a form of elemental chromium in the +6 oxidation state. Trivalent chromium (CrIII) and hexavalent chromium together compose what is normally called Total Chromium and is regulated by the EPA with a Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 100 PPB. There are many industrial uses for hexavalent chromium but human inhalation or ingestion of the chemical is known to cause cancer.
